ALEXANDRIA, VA — Between local government, transportation and business news, there was a variety of news that interested Del Ray Patch readers in 2022.
Business news tends to be a popular topic among readers. Alexandria Hyundai got extended permits through 2045 amid a mix of support and opposition. Matt & Tony's All Day Kitchen + Bar was the latest restaurant addition to Mount Vernon Avenue while The Company of Books moved to a larger location. We said goodbye to Kiskadee's brick-and-mortar location, Streets Market and the Lena's Oasis concept at Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap.
In transportation news, a top story was the Potomac Yard Metro opening delay, setting a potential opening for 2023. Speed cameras in some school zones are expected to launch in 2023. DASH overviews its first year of fare-free bus service.

In school news, Alexandria City Public Schools' superintendent resigned, and an interim superintendent was appointed while a permanent replacement search happens. Additional security measures were introduced as conversations continue about law enforcement inside schools.
