Valerie E. Fredette, 39, a homeless woman now located in Concord, was arrested at 2:43 p.m. on Aug. 13 on felony burglary, simple assault, breach of bail, and resisting arrest or detention charges. Eight officers were sent to 141 Old Turnpike Road for a possible burglary in the progress report. A business owner reported to police she had gone to her business, found someone inside “grabbing items,” and called the police. The officers surrounded the business, with one attempting to gain entry. Two other officers “positively identified” the woman “by sight” as Fredette due to prior contacts. The reporting officer called on her to come out of the building and that it was surrounded, but she refused to, an affidavit said. After about 20 minutes, Concord firefighters were requested, and they were able to gain access to the building. The officers searched the building, heard Fredette from a room, and accused her of claiming to be the business’ cleaning lady. They were able to arrest her after gaining access to the room, a report said. Several people doing business with a nearby pet store all gave statements. The reporting officer spoke to the owner of the building and confirmed that no one had been hired to clean the business, a report stated. The reporting officer accused Fredette of being “volatile” and “yelling and becoming aggressive” during processing and “she began to speak to random people (who) were not present in the room.” Officers placed her in handcuffs to take her to county and she spit in an officer’s face, an affidavit said.
