Like millions of Americans, I've followed off an on the twists and turns of the developing evidence and claims about the assassination of President John F. "Jack" Kennedy (D). So, when Congressman Eric Burlison shared this article recently (see Part I), I knew I had to share it with you. Congress Must Hold the CIA Accountable in the Wake of Recent JFK Assassination Revelations

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy remains one of the most defining moments in our nation’s history. Recent disclosures by the Central Intelligence Agency related to that tragic event raise disturbing questions that demand serious, bipartisan scrutiny—not more delay, not more obfuscation, and certainly not more secrecy. The American people deserve the truth.

For the sake of our republic, Republicans and Democrats must stand united in the belief that accountability, transparency, and the public’s right to know transcend partisanship—especially when it comes to the actions of our intelligence agencies.

It is in that spirit that I am calling for renewed congressional oversight into the conduct of the CIA in relation to Kennedy’s murder, and specifically the agency’s handling of key information immediately before and since that tragic day.

It has been almost 62 years since JFK was killed, but the assassination remains a current and important story because the CIA lied for six decades about what it knew in the years, months, weeks, and days leading up to Nov. 22, 1963. For that reason, Congress and the American public should welcome the recent document releases and increased oversight.

In the past year, thanks to President Donald Trump’s executive order, the work of the House Oversight Committee Task Force led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, and tenacious investigative reporting by journalists such as Tom Jackman in The Washington Post and Jefferson Morley in JFK Facts, we have seen a breakthrough in the release of documents that were unnecessarily hidden for decades.

Because of this pressure on government agencies to comply with the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, additional documents that had been suppressed have now been released in full.

One revelation in the new disclosures is that CIA officer George Joannides has been confirmed to be the previously unidentified case officer known by the alias “Howard,” who supervised a CIA-sponsored Cuban exile group in Miami in the early 1960s. “Howard” oversaw operations involving accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and the anti-Castro group Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil in the summer and fall of 1963. This CIA admission is nothing short of astonishing. It places Oswald in direct contact with a CIA-supervised and financed operation just months before he allegedly killed the president. For decades, the CIA denied, downplayed, or dismissed this link.

Equally troubling is the CIA’s role in assigning Joannides—the same officer who had overseen Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil activities in 1963—as the agency’s liaison to the House Select Committee on Assassinations in the late 1970s, without disclosing this glaring conflict of interest to Congress.

Joannides’s dual role as both a key figure in the events under investigation and, years later, the CIA gatekeeper to congressional investigators constitutes a staggering breach of trust. The agency’s lack of disclosure raises serious questions about obstruction of justice and institutional integrity.

In July 1981, shortly after his work stonewalling Congress, the CIA awarded Joannides the Career Intelligence Medal. The citation memo accompanying the award—kept secret until recently—details that Joannides received the honor, in part, for his 1978 assignment as CIA liaison to the House Select Committee.

According to public statements by a top committee investigator, Dan Hardway, Joannides primary role in that position was to limit congressional access to key files. The CIA praised Joannides effort as “outstanding” and described the liaison post as an “unusual special assignment.” Rewarding officials for obstructing Congress—a felony—demands further congressional investigation.

This is not a conspiracy theory. These are documented facts—confirmed by the CIA itself. And still, thousands of pages related to the assassination remain redacted or withheld. That is unacceptable.

Congress has a constitutional oversight responsibility, and the CIA, like every agency in our government, must be accountable to the people. We cannot permit a culture of secrecy to override the public’s right to know the full history of how and why a sitting president was murdered.

That is why I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support a renewed investigation into the CIA’s handling of this matter, including additional hearings and the full release of all remaining JFK assassination documents. I would also support legislation to ensure that the JFK Act of 1992 and Trump’s executive order are fully complied with.

Though the murder of Kennedy occurred over six decades ago, it remains a relevant and timely issue because of the CIA’s conduct in the years since. The assassination changed the course of American history. The cover-up of facts related to it undermines our democracy and the public’s faith in government.

To be clear, I believe that the CIA plays a vital role in protecting the United States when functioning within the rule of law. But the agency’s sustained suppression of truth regarding the murder of the president demands accountability. We owe that to the American people. We owe it to history. We owe it to our constitutional system. And most of all, we owe it to the memory of President John F. Kennedy.

Part II.

1) That's a Republican lawmaker asking for a renewed and more focused probe into the assassination of President Kennedy, a Democrat. Rightly so.

2) Before diving into the Kennedy assignation related thoughts, let me preface my remarks as follows.

Some have observed that we either have a true representative Republic in the U.S. that has democratic features or we do not. What follows is not meant to discourage voting. Quite the opposite. My hope as a political independent is to encourage every eligible citizen to vote routinely. For those who may have lost their right to vote due to some past crime, I'd encourage them to work lawfully to recover your right as soon as your jurisdiction makes that possible. But I'd also encourage WISE voting, not just blindly checking boxes that have a D or an R. As yours truly has said several times since hearing Drew Mariani (Relevant Radio) say this: 'I don't follow the donkey. I don't follow the elephant. I follow the Lamb.'

To spell out what Mariani meant: the donkey is the symbol for Democrats, the elephant is the symbol for the Republicans, and the Lamb is the symbol for the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. We need more people of faith in public life who are deeply living out and leading people to a more perfect Union. We will never get there in this life. But we can work to make our society as just as possible.

3) The alternative is a loss of liberty.

The alternative is to find out just how horrible life is under a true socialist, communist, or other form of authoritarianism.

If you haven't sat and listened to those who fled Communist Cuba, or socialist Venezuela, or Communist North Korea, the former Iron Curtain nations, etc. Sit down with someone who has lived under those systems. An estimated 100 million people have been murdered by their own governments. Poverty is more widespread under those systems. This sat photo tells the tale in an instant.

Anyone who thinks Trump is that, just ask this. Where are the millions of dead bodies? Sorry, you don't have to love Trump to see that he is not a Nazi. That's a smear tactic. When someone is smearing another without solid evidence, that is likely evidence that the party doing the smearing is projecting onto an opponent what they may be guilty of wanting to do themselves. Elena Gorokhova understood the woes under Communism.

Pray to God that we never wake up with that in the U.S.A. My wife thankfully escaped a government that was also arguably corrupt. My parents fled the Nazis and the Soviets alike. I've known several people from such countries. Please do not left socialist, Marxist or Communist peddlers mislead you.

**We live in a constitutional republic that has some democratic features to it.**

That said, let's pivot back to the Kennedy assassination.

4) I asked left-leaning Google's Gemini to respond to the topics raised by the congressman in Part I and to other questions I raised regarding the Kennedy hit. Here is what Gemini said under #5.

Based on historical accounts and investigations, here's an analysis of the claims you've raised:

Congressional Investigation and Two Weapons

It is true that a prior congressional investigation, the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA), concluded that there was a high probability of a second gunman. In its 1979 report, the HSCA found that acoustic evidence from a police radio recording indicated at least a 95% probability that two gunmen fired shots at President Kennedy [1]. The report concluded that there were four shots fired in total: three by Lee Harvey Oswald and one by an unknown second shooter [2]. However, the Justice Department and the FBI later conducted their own analysis and disputed the HSCA's findings on the acoustic evidence, concluding that the sounds were not gunshots [3]. The debate over the acoustic evidence and the number of shooters continues to this day.

President Kennedy and the CIA

It is widely documented that President Kennedy was deeply frustrated with the CIA after the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. This frustration led him to replace CIA Director Allen Dulles with John McCone and to issue a National Security Action Memorandum (NSAM 55), which sought to place greater control over covert operations under his direct supervision [4]. Historians have recorded that Kennedy allegedly threatened to "splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds," a quote often cited in relation to his dissatisfaction with the agency [5]. This statement, while a powerful expression of his anger, did not result in the actual disbanding of the agency.

Regarding whether Rep. Eric Burlison's points are "fair and accurate," the claims he raises align with a long-standing debate among historians, researchers, and public officials. His call for accountability is a common viewpoint among those who believe that the full truth of the Kennedy assassination has not been disclosed [6]. His arguments about the HSCA's findings and JFK's known friction with the CIA are based on documented historical events, making them factually grounded within the context of the assassination's complex and controversial history. 6) We are supposed to be living in a Constitutional Republic. That means in part that the government has limited powers that are strictly defined. For over a century, in fits and starts, the nation has drifted from those constitutional moorings, due in part to moves that occurred during the presidency of Woodrow Wilson (D), a racist Democrat president. Wilson promoted the notion of government by elite bureaucrats. Wilson promoted the Income Tax. Wilson moved the country away from tariffs more towards the income tax to pay for government that began to grow but failed to solve the problems of the people. With over 100 years experience, it is long overdue to carefully revisit his flawed thinking and to return to the system that created more wealth, more freedom, and more opportunities for "We the People."

Our public education system has NOT done a good job of teaching our history accurately. Many colleges and universities are also failing in that regard.

7) If you want to have a better future for yourself, your family, your loved ones, several things are necessary. In no particular order of importance.

a) We must be ever better in tune with the truths of true faith. This isn't optional, as George Washington and other founders of our Republic observed.

b) Socialism, communism, fascism, any form of authoritarian rule is problematic. There are no perfect forms of government or governing, save God. When we veer away from the Ten Commandments and Godly ideals, we demonstrably veer towards a less perfect union in our society. A look at life in atheistic countries demonstrates that readily.

c) To more specific concerns raised by the Kennedy hit and his time in the White House. Kennedy's record is mixed. He did some things well, some things problematically (like several other presidents). There are good reasons to think that there was cheating involved in his 'winning' his election. If the CIA or other government agents, assets, or contractors were involved in a 'hit' on Kennedy, that means the Lyndon Banes Johnson benefited (by intention or not) by a de facto coup. There are reasons to think that the 'election' of Joe Biden (D) was also a flawed election. Perhaps Congress will dig into that too? Time will tell.

d) I recently called out a Republican appointee, William "Bill" Pulte for what to my eye is a series of problematic decisions. I hope they are corrected. If not, we will continue to shine a light on that topic. As time permits, count on yours truly to call balls and strikes, regardless of political parties.

e) Our goal as a nominally free people could be summed up with these Scripture quotes.

John 8:31-32

"31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Lies can't free us. Only the truth can do that and that truth is found in the living Jesus Christ.

Another important Scripture to keep in mind.

Matthew 6:33

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

f) Don't stop there. Thirst for knowledge. Thirst for the truth. Thirst for the saving love of God.

8) Our nation has suffered too many assasin's bullets. There have been multiple apparently tainted elections in our nation's history. That doesn't mean we should throw up our hands and never vote. It means we should be more active, and understand what the goal should be on the practical level.

We need to return to a truly limited federal government. Many state and local governments are too big and inept too.

We deserve the truth about the Kennedy hit and on a range of other subjects. Only the truth will set us free.
