ELLINGTON, CT — This week, for the Hidden Gem, we travel to Ellington, just over the Vernon line, to find a classic setting for classic American comfort fare.

Welcome to Chic's in Ellington, set back a ways from state Route 83 at 41 West Road.

Chic's has been around since the World War II era and its present red brick building was built in 1965, according to town records.

The sign out front is a bit of what's inside — home cooked burgers, fries, hot dogs and sandwiches along with classic breakfast choices cooked to order.
