Hidden Gems Of Hartford And Tolland Counties

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The latest trip to a Hidden Gem takes us to West Hartford and the bridge over Trout Brook.

The bridge sits not only at the gateway to the downtown and Blue Back Square areas, but to the Trout Brook Trail. The trail is West Hartford’s long-term greenway project that provides walkers, runners, and bicyclists "a safe, enjoyable route to exercise and explore."

The 8-to-10-foot wide, accessible, paved trail follows Trout Brook from New Park Avenue to Jackson Avenue at Trout Brook Drive.

Parking for trail access can be found at the Elmwood Community Center’s lower lot or the Beachland Park lot adjacent to Quaker Lane South. Trail entrances are well marked at the following locations: in the Elmwood Community Center lower parking lot, at the northwest and southeast corners of the Quaker Lane South Bridge over Trout Brook, on New Park Avenue at the bridge over Trout Brook, or opposite the west end of Jackson Avenue.
