There is a secret that is not supposed to be a secret. We are all sons and daughters of an eternal, ever-present, all-loving Creator. Our eternal inheritance is - or ought to be - heaven. Heaven is described as a place of total bliss where there is no sorrow.

"I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters." - 2 Corinthians 6:18.

"This verse emphasizes the intimate, loving relationship that God offers to believers, portraying Him as a perfect father who provides, cares for, and accepts His children unconditionally." So said Gemini.

But God gives all of us free will. We have the obviously ability to choose. We can turn left or right, sit or stand, speak or stay silent, and so on. Esau was hungry. Instead of putting up with a temporary discomfort, instead of thinking long-term, Esau showed "distain" for his birthright through disobedience.

What is the Good News? That despite our sins, no matter how many or how serious, God is ever seeking to save and redeem us. That is a gift. But like Esau, we can either embrace that fit, or 'despise' or 'disdain' the gift.

Jesus didn't stutter. He didn't directly answer the inquiry: "Lord, will only a few people be saved?"

Instead, Jesus gave a cautionary tale, not unlike what was shared above from Philippians 2:12, Hebrews 6:4-6, and 1 Corinthians 9:27.

When there are so many people are making so many claims about what is the path to Heaven, what is the way to eternal life, Jesus doesn't answer by saying 'do your own thing.' Or 'whatever you want, is fine with Me.' Even some who convince themselves (or are wrongly convinced) that they can follow this path instead of the path Jesus has laid out, Jesus plainly said we must enter through "the narrow gate" which means we have to take a specific path.
