Erica Lee Hardwick, 37, of Swett Road in Pittsfield was arrested at 11:28 p.m. on Aug. 11 on a felony operating as a habitual offender and driving after revocation or suspension charges. An officer was driving south on South Main Street when he observed a silver SUV traveling north on Water Street with a driver’s side headlight not working. The 2010 Ford Flex was pulled over, and the officer requested a license and registration from the driver, a woman. She was identified later as Hardwick and asked why she was stopped, the report said. The officer told her about the light being out. “I then asked the female operator for her license again, to which she replied, ‘I don’t have it’.” When asked for clarification, if she didn’t have a license or just didn’t possess it at the time, she said, “No, I’m suspended,” the officer wrote. Hardwick, an affidavit said, was a habitual offender, losing her privileges in 2003 for failure to pay a court fine. A check stated she was convicted on habitual offender charges in February 2021 and in March. She was arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Aug. 25.
