There's a school bus that serves up pizza at a Hartford County winter sports destination.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The latest Hidden Gem is arguably a much better use for an old school bus that the Partridge Family tour vehicle. It's a takeout restaurant on wheels that has parked itself at Mount Southington for the winter snow sports season.

Welcome to the New School Pizza Co. Pizza bus, parked in front of the main base lodge at the mountain.

Why an old school bus? The owners said it's catchy, certainly bright and, as far as converted vehicles are concerned, it's "about as impenetrable as it gets" in terms of insulation and durability.

Translation: Just install a pizza kitchen and open the doors. Customers can just board the bus and order.

And it's not the school lunch menu. Specialties of the house, er, bus include pizza, giant pretzels and fried dough and there is an "eat all-day" pizza special for $20.
