Haleen Ann Buonano, 46, a homeless woman now located in Concord, was arrested at 5:08 p.m. on May 22 on an attempted theft by unauthorized taking charge, a felony due to two prior convictions. Around 5:30 p.m. on April 9, an officer was sent to Downing Street to investigate a theft incident. The resident, who was away enjoying Easter with his family, received a Ring alert on a cellphone after a woman was seen taking an Amazon package off the step of the home. The man told the woman, using the app and its mic, to drop the package. The woman later did drop the package in a neighbor’s driveway, a report said. The officer eyed the video and identified the suspect as Buonano since the officer was “familiar” with her, an affidavit stated. The officer knew her to be homeless, camping on South Main Street, and went to speak with her there, the report said. Buonano was accused of wearing the same shoes and glasses she was wearing when caught on the Ring camera, the officer wrote. During questioning, she was accused of admitting she took the package but dropped it later. Previously, according to the affidavit, she was convicted on a theft charge in Cheshire County in November 2004 and Merrimack County Superior Court in October 2022, so the attempt charge was increased to a felony.
