The latest Hidden Gem is a unique hike.

VERNON, CT — The latest journey to a Hidden Gem takes us to one of the most unique hiking experiences in north central Connecticut.

It's the Talcottville Ravine in Vernon.

The Ravine trail begins at the cup-de-sac by Talcottville Pond off Main Street. It proceeds along the northern side of the pond and then heads east along a stretch of the Tankerhoosen River, past the former Dobsonville Mill site.

It ends at the Dobsonville Dam on Dobson Road.

Stay east on Dobson Road for a connection with the old railroad bed trails, which stretch from the Vernon-Bolton line into Manchester.

The Talcott family once owned the land and it is now administered by the Northern Connecticut Land Trust.
