SIMSBURY, CT — The latest visit to a Hidden Gem comes by way of reader Valerie Gauthier, and it's a good suggestion.

Welcome to Farley Mac's, tucked into a set-back plaza at 1616 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury.

Those at the restaurant say it's their goal to give visitors "the best in comfort food, fine spirits, and a wonderful dining experience" they "will want to tell their families family and friends about."

Appetizer selections include fried cheese and potato pierogis topped with sour cream, bacon and caramelized onions , grilled cheese bites and fried pickles.

Yes ... there is chowder and lobster bisque on the soup menu.

Sandwiches include meatloaf and the D'Pickled Sandwich, a breaded and deep fried pickle-brined chicken breast topped with Monterey Jack cheese, sriracha ranch and pickles on a Kaiser roll.
