SUFFIELD, CT — The latest Hidden Gem is officially on a main state road, but you would never know it unless you were paying close attention to an A-frame sign at the entranceway, or had just learned about it by reading this column. Once you find it, however, you are certain to keep going back.

Hilltop Creamery is located at the top of a hill at, appropriately, Hilltop Farm on Route 159 (officially 1616 Mapleton Avenue, for those requiring use of a GPS), less than a mile from Six Flags New England. Owners Crystal and Jason Siemienkowicz opened the doors in May 2022, in a barn owned by Friends of the Farm at Hilltop, nestled among 70 acres of scenic beauty. Looking westward from the front of the shop, sunset views are simply breathtaking.

On any given day, about 20 flavors are available in a variety of scoops, sundaes, shakes, coolers and floats. Milk is provided by Suffield's Hastings Farm, and several local non-food artisans have their products for sale. An outdoor dining area with family-friendly games and activities is provided.
