COLUMBIA, CT — We travel to the far reaches of the eastern portion of Tolland County to find the latest Hidden Gem, but one look at the place makes it a must-stop.

Outside the shop are enticing items like old washboards, a vintage step stool and bench combination and a flexible flyer that might date back before airplanes.

And thats just the outside.

Welcome to By The Pond at 187 Route 66 East in Columbia. It's tucked into a shopping plaza near the Route 6 intersection.

By The Pond is a consignment shop and artist collective featuring more than 60 local artists, "creators" and collectors. Each "display unit" is "merchandised with handmade, repurposed, recycled and vintage treasures."

Items can be acquired at the store or via social media for curb side pick-up.

A trip this time of year would be timely because By The Pond's inventory features a plethora of holiday items, including "Santa's Magic Key," for homes without a chimney.
