MANCHESTER, CT — This week's trip to a Hidden Gem takes us to 209 Hillstown Road in Manchester and a business that has been operation since 1973.

Botticello Farms represents the last operating farm in town and features hard-to-produce healthy plants for personal gardens and produce for the kitchen. Botticello has more than 50,000 square feet of greenhouses stocked with thousands of annual flowers and vegetable plants in an assortment of containers.

Botticello also offers topsoil, mulch, and bagged soil products available for pickup or delivery.

The fields measure more than 300 acres with fresh fruits and vegetables in addition to hay and broadleaf tobacco.

All vegetables are picked fresh daily, and sold at the farm's roadside market.

The produce also makes its way to local grocery stores.

Every time a customer comes in, he or she is greeted by a staff member.

Fresh milk, cheese and eggs, freshly baked bread, locally made ice cream, pies and cookies, beef, pork, chicken, freshly made pasta and sauce, local honey, local maple syrup and spices are also featured in the store.

During the holiday season, fresh-cut Christmas trees, hand-decorated wreaths, cemetery pots, centerpieces, and local holiday crafts are featured.
